if ever there were ‘puppy dog eyes’…..what a love!
I have been meaning to post photos of these gorgeous gallery wrap canvas products - I love these so much! My favortite part about them is they are ready to take home and hang on your wall- no framing required! Plus, I just ADORE the way they look :)
Here are a few photos (with, of course, my customary disclaimer that I have NO future in product photography!)
(haha - and see how I snuck a gratuitous photo of my little models in there!- love them!)

Oh my is that a wedding dress the three of them are in? Your product photography is not bad at all!! These are gorgeous canvases!
I love the way canvases look on the wall, especially when they are printed BIG! Yours are beautiful!
Thanks guys! Yes Beth - that is the same little girl at one , two and four years old… we missed her three year shot! we do this every year on her birthday- it is her mom’s wedding dress! Isn’t she darling??
LOVE those gallery wraps!! It’s so good to take pictures of your own pictures!! (hehe)
The canvases are gorgeous! And the wedding dress idea is simply divine. SHe looks so beautiful!
how great are thse
What a wonderful product - makes your beautiful portraits look so special!
I haven’t had a chance to peek at your blog for a little while. Such beautiful photos! I’m inspired!
I LOVE canvas!!
Wow, very cool! These canvas prints look amazing!!
someone went a little canvas happy…gorgeous
I love canvas gallery wraps as well. those are amazing.
That trio is one of the best canvas gallery displays I have ever seen! Jen your color is so beautiful. Hope you are well!!
I headed down to San Diego last week to meet Chris and Sam and photograph their two beautiful little girls! They were both so adorable and had the best little personalites - it made my job so easy!
Here are just a couple….

love these!
mmmm…simply delicious! the last picture is breathtaking and i love her sweet pink lips!
Wow! That is one cute baby. And I’m a guy, and thus afflicted with NMB Syndrome (”Not My Baby Syndrome”, a disease in which children that aren’t your own don’t look cute at all.). These are great shots, right out of a pampers commercial or something. But hey…what’s that I see? Your catchlights…are you using honest-to-goodness strobes???!! Softbox and an umbrella it appears to be, or perhaps window light and umbrella. And it’s a silver umbrella rather than white, I’m guessing. :)
These little girls are adorable. You captured them so well!
Love the baby shot in color. SOO cute.
It was wonderful seeing such adorable little girls photographed so sweetly. Precious!
Well, we’re biased but we absolutely LOVE these pictures !!!! Jen is amazing to work with - she created such a fun environment for the girls and captured our beauties just as we hoped she would… and more :)

ok so i’m starting to figure out your technique here. not as hard as i thought. you simply point your camera at a child, and absolute majick ensues.
which camera were you using again? ;)
I love the little girl photos! The cake ones are darling and that crying one in the too-cute-dress is darling!
Absolutely adorable! These are gorgeous images!!
these are sooo sweet! you really captured their little personalitites. little D on his bike and the crying princess are my two favorites. but wow, the smile on the last picture is pretty darn irresistable, too. :)
L
These are awesome! I particularly love the cake-on-face shot (man, what eyes!) and the vintagey one but they are all beautiful. Also, gotta love the crying face. It’s not a party until someone cries :)
Love the cake smash shots!
that birthday cake shot rocks!
Oh my they are all so wonderful. I love the cake photos and what an adorable superhero!
Jen these are so darn ADORABLE!!
OMG those cake ones, WOW!
These are so fun!
Jen - i like what you did with that vintage toning. Really adds great variety to the series!
Your storyboard combinations are killer. I adore your work, it is so fun and fresh.
These are ADORABLE!!!
If you are in the Ventura area next Monday (July 14th) I invite you to come listen to me ramble on! The Channel Islands chapter of the PPC has invited me to speak at their next meeting (filling in for the fabulous Jose Villa who couldn’t make it - those are some pretty big shoes to fill!!). I’ll be talking about the children’s lifestyle photography business in general and specifically about how I’ve tailored my work-from-home business to fit in and compliment my personal life, without going crazy! Okay, okay, so I still go crazy….but I digress….
If you are a photographer in the area I STRONGLY recommend checking out this group! They are a very talented bunch of peeps, I think in the last several years at the annual PPC convention, the CIPPA folks have walked away with an ENORMOUSLY large percentage of the honors awarded, including Photographer of the Year for the last several years! I have been invited to judge their local chapter print comps twice now, and am always blown away by the TALENT! I think we had several photos score in the high 90s at the last comp - very impressive!
…and because no blog post is ever complete without SOME sort of picture, please enjoy this comic strip from What The Duck!

what a fun opportunity!! And LOVE what the duck, of course. :)
GAH.. if I had more notice i’d sooo fly in for this…
Well I happen to be one of the lucky recipients of this recent presentation. And I can tell you Jen, you really got me thinking! So many new things to do, so many changes I need to make to my business model. And aw heck, you even got me bloggin’. :)
P.S. And I’d feel bad about stealing all your ideas except…well, you DID tell an entire crowd about them. So consider it a form of flattery.
Your work is AMAZING!!!!! L O V E everything I’ve seen here. ANd just wanted to add…I was born and raised in Ventura! Hope you had a great time there. I miss it!
Again,,,Love your work, and LOVE your blog! :)
Blessings!
This was one of my most *meaningful* sessions to date. I first met Elizabeth last year when I photographed her first baby link to old blog post. We went out to lunch and became fast friends :) but then life intruded. Last summer she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and her whole world was rocked. She was pregnant at the time, her son had to be born early (but he is doing GREAT!) and she had to immediatly start treatment. She moved up north to be by her family and has weathered some pretty serious storms. Well, here we are a year later, she has two handsome little boys and is doing well and hanging in there. She is a STRONG woman and has been through a lot and I am proud to call her my friend. Without further ado - Elizabeth and her two gorgeous sons:

AS some of you may know ( or not!) I had my own battle with breast cancer a little over a year ago. I was one of the lucky ones, we caught it early on, I had to have two surgeries and 5 weeks of radiation, but no chemo. Things are great now - but I know that I am truly lucky. Please keep Elizabeth in your prayers and thoughts as she continues to heal…

I adore these. She is so beautiful, and her relationship with her boys shines through, even in the “meltdown” series. As an all-boy mom, I just love everything about these. I will keep her in my thoughts:-)
Another all boy mom here and I love these images you captured. So much love and joy and mother hood all wrapped up in these.
Mom is beautiful and I will send her some healing thoughts for what she is going through.
These are awesome! I love all the variety - you captured her with her boys perfectly! The love she has for them is so obvious - just beautiful!
Already told ya that I love what you’ve done here, but have to tell you again. My favorites are the two b/ws by the beach… especially the one on the left. She sounds like a beautiful woman, and you’ve shown that through these pics. ~A
Jen - did not know… These images are sooo powerful..praying for her good health!!
AMAAAAZING! i love the little guy by his mommy’s legs. and nose to nose. what an amazing woman she is!! you’ve truly honored her.
:)

What a beautiful woman, beautiful family.
These are beautiful on so many levels. You have outdone yourself with this one, my friend. Great work!
wow! these are gorgeous!!! love your color and the loving interactions b/w them…..beautiful and captivating!
Wow Jen, there are so many great ones here to choose from. I’m so glad the boys and mom have these, they truly captured a special bond!! I hope she is lucky like you!!
See you soon!
Elizabeth will certainly be in my prayers. You can totally tell she is a ROCK! so strong and those boys are to cute.
Jennifer, I stumbled upon your website by accident and have truly enjoyed the nice design and photography that you’ve shared! I like the spirit in all your posts and this one is particularly beautifully written. Congratulations on a nice job and the victory against the cancer!

horses and dogs and babies, oh my!!!
i somehow KNEW from the very first email, that this mommy and i would hit it off (you can just tell when people will be *your people*!)- but i didn’t know how much i’d fall in LOVE with her family (and her in-laws ranch - i want to be adopted by them!))
this little girl has the most gorgeous eyes and such smooth flawless baby skin. we meandered all over the ranch seeking out cool spots - and keeping away from the dogs after they’d been swimming! (hey pups - you know i love you!)
check out this SERIOUSLY beautiful family:

killer location! love these so much!!
What a great session!!
These are totally fantastic!
I lived! Seriously, I had such an amazingly fantastic time teaching this workshop! I was both flattered AND nervous when I was invited to be an instructor there (the other instructors all had such rock-star resumes!) BUT, they asked me, so I figured they wanted me :) How (pleasantly!) surprised was I to find out that my class was SOLD OUT!!?? Um…pressure :) WOW. Just wow.

…and now on to my list of THANK YOUs… (this is going to be wordy, so please bear with me!)
…to my students - you all were SO awesome! Thanks for making my 2 1/2 days of talking, shooting, rolling around in the grass and clicking around in photoshop such a positive experience! Your energy and enthusiasm carried me through the days (which I needed since Lisa and I were up slaving all night!) I think I might have learned as much from y’all as you **hopefully** learned from me!
…speaking of Lisa :) I am So lucky, SO fortunate, SO happy to have such an amazing friend as my good buddy (and crazy-talented photographer!!) Lisa Maksoudian.{{{click on her site right now!! you’ll fall in love with her!}}} Lisa is the ultimate superhero - she knew I had some mini-anxieties about rambling on for days and she VOLUNTEERED to come help out! (leaving her own work and family behind!) If that isn’t the definition of a great friend, I don’t know what is! She stayed up with me each night working on the presentation, she provided moral support AND chips and salsa and best of all, she was such a great *gift with purchase* surprise for the students! They got to hear from *two* photographers instead of just me :) I know they loved her (as do I!) So - thank you, Lisa!! I owe you big time!!!
…GGS people! Thanks for making us feel welcome (and I’m bummed I missed the instructor’s dinner!) I met my new best buddy :) Kim Sayre as soon as I arrived on campus! You know those people you meet and you just know you’ll be friends forever??? That’s how I felt when we met!! (and that was BEFORE I knew that I had her to thank for the referral!) So - thanks KIM! (and she let me try out her killer lightroom presets and templates which are super-awesomeand can be found at Cottage Industry Designs. My *official GGS-designated* trustee was the talented Jonathan Mandel. Jonathan helped keep the class on track and ensured that everyting ran smoothly. I **loved** his gorgeous photos and was blown away when I looked at his portfolio, he has such a great eye for composition and his work was just gorgeous! Lastly, I was flattered to have the President of the PPGBA in my class!! Jeanne DePolo is already a super-successful portrait and wedding photographer, so I was so flattered to have her attend my class. I know I learned a lot from her (and hopefully she learned from me as well!) and look forward to hanging out again in the future! Her award-winning image of a bride and groom locked in passionate embrace was smokin’ hot - I loved viewing her work!
I regret that I did not get an opportunity to socialize/ hang out with the other GGS instructors and staff. Next year!! I will be more prepared and spend my evenings having fun instead of slaving away!
I had lots of help on the homefront leading up to this crazy week, and my hubby not only managed the kids for 4 days without me, I came home to a clean house with all the laundry done!! Petty cool, huh? My friends Jenn, Lori and kay;a are awesome! Jenn helped me learn a new software program and she and her cousin Renee helped with goodie bag stuffing! Her hubby Scott even got in on the fun and helped sort out some computer issues! So - thanks guys! I am lucky to have such generous friends…
One final comment! I had some VERY GENEROUS vendors step up and offer marketing materials, discounts and give-aways for my class. I know they appreciated it and so do I! So - a big shout out to the following peeps:
Jie at J Lee Albums, Patrick at Simply Canvas(he even came and brought goodies in PERSON!), the fabulous Jamie Schultz, my super-inspiring *hello* buddy Marie Cox of Phreckles Photography, the always impressive Lena Hyde at Design Aglow, my new friend (and up-and-coming rockstar photographer) Kate Parker, world-famous Jinky and Dawn at IttyBitty Actions, CB & Roxanne at Pixel2Canvas, the oh-so-stylish marketing gurus at Bellagraficaand the team at Big Folio
**gasp** (must breathe!)
Kevin Kubota for not only his support and gifties with his EVERY-PHOTOGRAPHER-MUST-HAVE action sets, but also with ASUKAbook discounts and giveaways. Plus, I learned so much at Kevin’s Digital Photography BootCamp in April, he totally changed my workflow and made me a *more-organized* photographer!
Jeff and Caitlin at ProDPI(my fabulous lab!) If you are a photographer and are reading this, you should check them out RIGHT NOW! They have such great quality AND outstanding customer service - you will be THANKING me if you make the switch!
Whew. I think I’m done with the *writing* part - now this post needs some images! Some of my students have emailed me photos, I will add them here ASAP.
Meanwhile….good night!
Jen,
I’m so happy for you! Sounds like your teaching experience was WONDERFUL! Your enthusiasm, passiion and engaging personality had to light your class on fire! How wonderful that you had Lisa with you as a support system. Photo girlfriends are the best…..we can share the whole spectrum of our passions!
Hi lovely lady, so glad you had a fabulous experience. You had a wonderful support system, yay! So happy to see you blossoming!! :)
ahhhh! i’m sure you’d do the same for me.. so, the next time i have speaking engagement in Tahiti, think you could rearrange your busy schedule for me???
:)
That sounds AWESOME! Congrats to you!
OMG!!!!! Those images are just un-be-lievable!!! Hey if you and Lisa have to go speak in Tahiti, I will carry the guac and chips!!
You’re amazing!!!

Kim
I knew you would rock, Jen!! And how wonderful is Lisa? Sounds like a great workshop!!
Gorgeous stuff Jen! I am a sucker for the doggies!

SNOW!!!!!
I was SO excited when I looked out the window this morning!
Just one photo for now, I’ll be back later after my brain has exploded from all the new info I’m learning…

Okay, I’m back with a few more! It is SO beautiful here! If you are a photographer, you should RUN right now and sign up for this workshop! It is only day 2 and I’ve learned so much…

LUCKY! LUCKY LUCKY!
We have snow here too, but I’m not nearly as happy about it! LOL
Have a great time!
How fun!!!
How fun, beautiful images!!
Hey Jen, glad you had such a great time at Kubota’s workshop. Would love to get the scoop on it! I think it’s so great that you’re excited about snow! Good grief, I could have sent you a whole ton of it!! Your pine cone shot is so lovely. I admire how you can totally do the portrait gig, but also take lovely still life shots as well! Way to go!
~Amy
Snow! I am in Minnesota right now and we are being slammed with a snowstorm. It is APRIL!! Lovely captures of it. Keep warm!
I am soooooo jealous. We don’t get much in the way of snow here in Oz and we certainly don’t get cool workshops. You lucky thing
That first image with the pinecones are amazing. It actually makes me miss my living in a snowy place, only for a brief moment though.
Love your work!
Very cool and artistic shots!! You’ve got such a great eye!! OK, I hope you’re soaking it all in and can share just a morsel. I know my brain is not ready for a KK Boot camp!!!
How fun!!!!
Snow?! What a great surprise!
love these…
Add me to the list of jealous ones, these are amazing. i would kill for some snow right now not to mention a Kevin workshop :)
AH! You big booger! I can’t believe you didn’t come by and say hi , grrrrrrrrrr.
Yep. Early tomorrow morning I’ll be leaving my kiddos for SIX days. I’ve never left them that long before, and while I’m currently working myself into a sad mommy state, I’ve mostly been REALLY looking forward to a break!
Of course, this is not a *real* vacation - for all the photogs out there who want to turn green with envy (LOL!) I’ll be at Kevin Kubota’s Digital Bootcamp in Bend, Oregon!!!! Yay! Hopefully ths means that by the time I return I’ll be this amazing, lightning-fast, post-processing chick! (and for my clients - well - anything that makes me faster has GOT to be better, right???)
So - I’ll be staying at a dude ranch (how cool is that???) outside of Bend and I hear the internet access isn’t the best. If you absolutly must reach me please call becasue I don’t know how often I’ll get to my email.
And now, because no post is complete without photos, here is just one from last week….

Oh, I love this shot… so sweet and girlie! The subdued colors are perfect.
oh Lucky you!!! I chose wppi over this workshop and sooo regret it! Hope you have a blast and I know you will earn loads. I went to his mini bootcamp which was only 2 days and learned so much.
:-)
Oh, I am definitely GREEN with envy. You are going to have an awesome time. And, uh, feel free to share all your new skills with us once you return home, lol.
Don’t go stealing my boyfriend while you’re there, ya hear!
LOL!

Jen, you will have so much fun at this workshop. I wish I could join. Love to hear all about it when you get back. Have fun. :)
Lucky dog!! and great shot!!
Wow.. this is an incredible image!
I had such an amazing time in Las Vegas last month. I photographed three babies while I was there and it was especially fun since two of the babies I first **met** last fall when they were still in their mommy’s tummies! I was so excited to FINALLY meet these precious little munchkins!
Without further ado - meet baby #1! This little man just turned six months old! I think I’ve gotten more complimentary emails about Tina’s maternity session than any other session I’ve ever shot! (Yeah - like **I** had anything to do with it! It is impossible to take a bad photo of this girl!)
To refresh your memory… that was then….

this is now…
how cute???

OMG! I love these sooooo much! Can you feel the love???

I love this shot…

sexy mama…

Miss you guys already! Can’t wait to head back there soon!
